Some of our recent projects include:

Digital Imaging. In 1985 members of our staff conceived and developed the first application of digital imaging to solve billing and invoicing problems for motor carriers. Later our staff expanded this solution to meet the needs of rail and air freight carriers and received United States Patent 5,168,444 on this novel shipment processing system. Today this application is common throughout the transportation industry and we have implemented many systems based on this technology.

Web-Based Tracking and Tracing. Providing 7x24 access to shipment status information is an essential element of customer service. CSG developed a web-based system for a large trucking company that provides real-time updates to shipment status through integration with the client's legacy ERP system. The system also provides customers with automatic email notification of status changes.

Line-Haul Optimization. Working closely with faculty from the University of California at Berkeley, we designed and built a line-haul management system that provides least cost assignment of equipment and drivers to routes.

Cross Dock Optimization. Working closely with faculty from the Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey, CA, our staff has developed unique solutions that minimize the cost of cross docking freight while avoiding freight congestion and forklift interference.

Wireless Web Pickup and Delivery Pilot. In a pilot program we developed the first wireless web application for gathering pickup and delivery information for motor carriers. The input device was a standard cellular phone that ran an HDML browser. All application software resided on a central server.

Wireless Pickup and Delivery System. A division of one of the world's largest transportation companies relies on CSG for software enhancements to and support of its wireless system for dispatching drivers and reporting on current pickups and deliveries. This software integrates with the client's host system and the wireless carrier's nationwide network.

Integration of Handheld Devices with Qualcomm's Wireless Network. One of the largest manufacturers of handheld computers asked CSG to develop an interface to allow their products to communicate using Qualcomm's terrestrial and satellite networks. We developed the basic interfaces, the hand-held applications, and several web-based host applications to demonstrate how an end user could benefit from using our client's equipment and software.

Inbound Planning. Using data from a wide variety of sources within the company, we developed a software application that allows inbound planners to review shipments inbound to destination terminals and create delivery routes for city drivers. The application was linked to an imaging system that allows the planners to view images of shipping documents when necessary.

Customer Master. A large transportation company was dependent on a limited-capability legacy system to create new customers and freight bills. Many of the freight movement functions associated with these customers were accomplished using newer software that couldn't access the older customer database. We created a synchronization process that allowed our client to continue to create customer information using the legacy software, which the client did not wish to replace. Each new customer's information and updates to existing customers were communicated to the newer software, which could then be modified to allow updates and storing of additional information.
